This year the Styrian Chambermusic Festival likes it more playful and so additional fascinating characters consort with the classic chambermusic, which has played the leading part so far.
This time we asked our musicians to act not only as artists but as music-lovers too and create programs according to their personal taste.
What was the result of this process? Well you have to listen for yourself, but I can already tell you the following: The Styrian Chambermusic Festival is sparkling this year with individual and unorthodox program-ideas not skipping any styles.
A very special focus is laid on the music genius Friedrich Gulda. The Austrian composer and pianist, who died 10 years ago, knew exactly what he wanted. He cut his own musical path without accepting compromises and lived a life as a revolutionist, pioneer and as an idol for a whole generation of artists. I am very happy that the jazz-legend Erich Kleinschuster, a companion of Gulda, contributes to this focus.
With Christian Altenburger, Paul Gulda, the Hyperion Ensemble, the star-cellists Christophe Coin from France and Li-Wei from China and many other familiar and fresh faces, a gripping cast occupies the stage of the Styrian Chambermusic Festival.
