Artistic Education

After first studies of Cembalo, organ and Viola da gamba at the academy of music and music grammar school in Austria, Duftschmid attended the concert class for viola da gamba of Jordi Savall at the Schola Cantorum in Basel (Switzerland).

Artistic Career

He is co-founder of the ensembles Ars Antiqua and Consortium Musicum. Concerts with Ton Koopman, Jordi Savall, Montserrat Figueras, Freiburger Baroque Orchestre, Wiener Symphoniker, Berliner Philharmoniker, and Sir John Eliot Gardiner. Founder of Armonico Tributo Austria and AnLeut. 60 concerts per season at many renowned festivals in Europe and Overseas.

Recordings

80 CDs. Emphasis on new recordings of old music from Austria (especially of Johann Joseph Fux) and highlights of solo-literature for Viola da Gamba. Founder of “AnLeut” CD and scores publishing house.

Teaching Activity

Lecturer for Viola da Gamba in Austria. Professor for Viola da Gamba at the University of Music in Trossingen (Germany). Duftschmid teaches at several music courses in Austria.
