Castle Freiberg

The castle was built from the noble family „Freynbergern" and was mentioned first in records 1472.
1636 earl Ott Gottfried von Kollonitsch became the owner of the castle and extended the building to a Renaissance-castle. After the death of the last member of the Kollonitsch family 1874 the owners of the castle Freiberg changed several times. During the wartime and the postwar-period the castle fell into ruin. 1973 Erich Mohringer bought the bedraggled building and started its renovation. Today some flats and a bookbindery can be found in Schloss Freiberg which is used for concerts and exhibitions as well.
