Artistic Education
Founded 1996; educated by members of the Alban-Berg-, Amadeus-, Carmina- and the Cherubini-Quartets in Cologne and Zurich. Walter Levin taught the quartet for three years in Basel. Further artistic impulses through musicians like Martha Argerich, Clemens Hagen, Nikolaj Znaider and others.
Artistic career
In more then 800 concerts all over the world the Casal quartet proofed that their most important aim is the direct encounter with the audience and artistic partners from different art categories. Conceptual aspects are as important to the quartet as stylistic experiences with e.g. 16th century music, Tango Nuevo, Jazz or contemporary movements.
Impartment of music to young people and concerts on exceptional venues avoid routine. Engagements 2008/09 will bring the quartet to the Festival Museiques Basel, Hamburger Musikhalle, Musikgebouw Amsterdam and many more.
Recordings
The next CD production will compare works by Beethoven and Janácek. A recording with the pianist Oliver Schnyder for Sony is scheduled too.
