Artistic education
a native of Slovenia, studied oboe with Bozo Rogelja at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana and was awarded the Slovenian Preseren Student Award. He continued his studies in the class of Heinz Holliger at the Musikhochschule Freiburg, Germany, where he completed his studies with distinction.
Artistic career
Matej Sarc has concertized widely with different chamber groups and appeared as soloist with chamber orchestras in most European orchestras. Mr. Sarc is a strong advocate of contemporary music and has worked closely with composers who have written for him. He is currently the principal oboist of the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra and member of the SLOWIND woodwind quintet.
Recordings
He has recorded for Radio Slovenia, Radio France Musique, WDR Cologne, SWF Baden-Baden and the Icelandic Radio. Several of these recordings have been released on compact disc. In addition he has recorded for the German label Da Camera the concertos for oboe d'amore by G. Ph. Telemann and the oboe concertos by T. Albinoni.
