Legend has it that the castle in St. Georgen was built on a wall, which was erected by giants.
In 1555 the property St. Georgen was sold to the baron of Glojach, who redocorated the castle in the Renaissance style.
When the emperor Leopold slept 1661 in the castle, so a story says, he shot 100 deers. In remembrance of this special event the hunter's room was decorated with frescos, which show the emperor at his very sucessful hunt.
1754 baron Joseph zu Egkh Hungersbach became the posessor of the property and redocorated the nothern wing in the Baroque style.
Finally the family Familie Reinisch bought the castle and avoided the dilapidation of the building.
