Arstitic education
The Quartetto Elisa was formed in 1992 in Florence when four young musicians from the most important Italian schools with quite varied musical experience met. The teaching of Franco Rossi, the celebrated violoncellist from Quartetto Italiano, was fundamental, equally special were the exposure to the international concert stars such as Salvatore Accardo, Norbet Brainin, Rudolf Barshai and the members of the Borodin Quartet.
Artistic career
The repertoire of the Quartet extends from the works of the first school of Vienna to the contemporary, with particular interest for the quartet works of Italian composers from Boccherini to Verdi including Colla, Grossi, Stroppa, to name a few. Among the various discs the quartet has recorded, there are those dedicated to the six quintets with piano from Boccherini and, in a world premiere, to the quartets of Giovanni Bottesini.
The suppleness of the group is such that there are frequent collaborations with renowned international musicians for the study and performance of diverse chamber music: among these it is enough to cite pianists Bruno Canino and Michel Dalberto, violinist Dmitri Sitkovetsky, flutists Sir James Galway and Michele Marasco, guitarists Victor Pellegrini and Emanuele Segre, the soprano Barbara Frittoli.
Prices and competitions
Thanks equally to the recognition obtained in important national and international competitions, the Quartetto Elisa is one of the most famous and appreciated musical groups in Italy, and they perform regularly in concert halls in Europe, Japan and North America.
