In the year 1894 when Gleichenberg has established itself as well-known and highly frequented spa town of the aristocracy, the owner of the hotel „Milano“ ordered building plans for a ballroom.
The architect was August Gunolt, one of the most important representatives of the baroquisational art of building in Styria. The great ballroom was finished in 1895. At that time the hotel „Milano“ was one of the most luxury hotels in the monarchy. Still today the ballroom is known as the most beautiful (former) hotel-halls in Styria. During the years of war the room was used as stockroom and gym hall. After the renovation the former Hotel „Milano“ was sold to the federal government of Styria and integrated into the school-complex of the Landesberufsschule Bad Gleichenberg.
