Wine cellar Erzherzog Johann Weine

The heart of the company „Erzherzog Johann Weine“ is its wine cellar. More than 100 years old it has experienced a lot of changes. Until 1787 the house, which rises above the old cellar arches, was in private hands. In the beginning of the 20th century the family Richter bought the estate in the main road in Ehrenhausen. This family was owner of the castle too, therefor the cellar got the name „Schlosskeller“ (castle cellar)

The oldest part of the cellar with its beautiful arches is used for the storage of oak barrels. Some of them are more than 60 years old. The other part offers an overwhelming atmosphere and is used for different kinds of cultural events.

Beside the old wooden barrels there is a fermenting wine cellar with modern tanks of high quality steel with integrated cooling system. It is possible to handle more than 100 tons of grapes a day. The cellar holds a storage possibility of 1,8 million L of wine.
