The castle Oberthal was first mentioned in records 1140 in connection with the noble lineage 'Waldsdorf'. The possesssors Erasmus and Pangraz von Windischgrätz rebuilt the castle to a large extent and basically created the appearance of the today's castle. The wonderful Renaissance arcade court was built in that time too (16th cent.)
